Our Community
The People around the table
The friendship table is a community before it’s a program - neighbors, fellows, volunteers, and leading growing in faith and friendship together.
Our rule of Life
Five Rhythms we hold in Common
At the heart of our community, our Fellows and covenant members share a Rule of Life — the rhythms that guide our common life together. All are welcome at our table; this is the deeper commitment some choose to make.

Dorothy guides the daily life of the community - welcoming newcomers, tending relationships, and helping each person find their place at the table.
A Note from our Steward
Friends,
I believe deeply in the dignity of every person who comes to the table. Hunger isn't only physical—it's the ache for belonging, for cultural connection, for being truly seen and known.
My work in food equity is rooted in the conviction that nourishing bodies and feeding souls are inseparable acts. I want to create spaces where people are honored in the fullness of who they are, where stories are shared without shame, and where the table becomes holy ground.
Food justice, to me, means ensuring that everyone has access not just to meals, but to the respect, community, and restoration they deserve. I'm here because I believe the table can be a place where something sacred happens—and I'm committed to stewarding it well.
In community,
Dorothy Kennedy
Our Fellows
Tori Danielik (They/She)
A UNC Chapel Hill graduate with degrees in English and Dramatic Art, Tori was drawn to our program as a way to live out their faith through tangible service, believing that Christians have a responsibility to display the radical, boundless love that Jesus demonstrated.
Confirmed in the Episcopal Church at age 11, Tori sees their work with The Friendship Table as an opportunity to grow spiritually through regular prayer, study, and reflection while helping to "make Earth as it is in heaven." With a background in theatre and storytelling, combined with their passion for music as spiritual practice, uniquely positions them to contribute to our ministry's mission of addressing food insecurity and building community connections.
